Job Functions:

  • Reporting directly to the Superintendent, assisting with spray programs and planning.
  • Applying pesticides and fertilizer on all greens, tees, and fairways on the golf course, as well as assisting the crew with daily tasks and projects across the golf course.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Experience with chemical or spray applications preferred.
  • Must be able to work outside in unpredicted weather conditions.

Experience Requirements:
A minimum of 2 years experience as an Assistant Superintendent with management responsibilities is preferred, but we will work with the right candidate. Must possess or obtain a Maine Pesticide Applicator License.

Purpoodock Club is a private 18-hole golf-only facility that opened in 1922 and is located just minutes from beautiful beaches, parks and downtown Portland. The course has distinctive rock outcroppings and unique fairway contours. We manage bent/poa greens, tees and fairways at championship levels and have recently replaced most of the maintenance fleet with a new equipment package to help in that effort. We are just finishing a total bunker and tee renovation
on the front nine, along with a rebuild of the first green, and phase one (of four) forestry management projects. The back nine bunkers were renovated in 2019, and the back nine tees and practice tee will be renovated in 2023 (No major construction in our centennial year, 2022). The club is investing heavily in capital improvement projects and equipment with some exciting
changes happening in the years to come. The current senior assistant is transitioning into a superintendent position and is the second senior assistant in the last two years to do so.

Breakfast Hill Golf Club is an 18-hole championship public golf course on the seacoast of NH founded in 2000. We strive to provide private course conditions on a busy public course that hosts more than 30,000 rounds each year. Breakfast Hill Golf Club will be the host of the 2020 NH State Open. It was rated as #4 in the state by Golf Advisor for 2018 and #3 in the state by Golfweek for 2019.

The 2nd Assistant will report directly to the Superintendent and work with the 1st Assistant to manage the crew and perform daily course and equipment maintenance. Course maintenance will include chemical and fertilizer applications, irrigation work, course setup and mowing. Equipment maintenance will include backlapping and grinding reels, as well as preventative maintenance such as changing oil and greasing. Winter work will involve tree work, equipment maintenance, and snow removal. The 2ndAssistant is also responsible for keeping fertilizer, chemical and equipment logs. Applicant should have a positive attitude, be highly motivated, reliable, detail-oriented, and be a team player who can also work independently. Applicant should be a self-starter with a desire to learn.
